Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau takes destination wedding campaign to Hyderabad, Surat and Pune

Hyderabad, Sept 27 (UNI) The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) concluded a three-city roadshow across Hyderabad, Surat and Pune on Saturday to promote Sri Lanka as a destination for Indian weddings, bringing together wedding planners, travel professionals and media representatives.
The roadshow showcased Sri Lanka's potential as a destination for weddings, offering a combination of tropical beaches, luxury resorts, heritage properties, scenic mountain locations and personalised hospitality for Indian couples and their families.
The campaign highlighted the concept of combining wedding celebrations with holidays, allowing guests to explore beaches, cultural attractions, wildlife safaris, wellness experiences, shopping and local cuisine.
The destination also offers arrangements tailored to Indian traditions, including customised menus, themed décor and pre- and post-wedding celebrations.
Speaking at the roadshow, SLTPB Deputy Managing Director Chamila Jayarathne said India continued to be an important market for Sri Lanka and that destination weddings offered an opportunity to strengthen ties between the two countries.
He said the initiative enabled the tourism board to present Sri Lanka's offerings directly to professionals involved in wedding planning.
SLTPB Chairman Buddhika Hewawasam said India remained a focus market and that the bureau was developing tourism offerings in line with the changing interests of Indian travellers.
He said destination weddings would help position Sri Lanka as a place where celebrations, travel and cultural experiences could be brought together.
The roadshows also featured The Heritage of Kandyan, a cultural performance showcasing Sri Lanka's traditional dance forms through rhythmic music, elaborate costumes and distinctive movements. The presentation highlighted the country's cultural heritage as an element that could add character to Indian wedding celebrations.
Through the initiative, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau aims to strengthen partnerships with India's wedding and travel industries and increase the country's visibility as a destination for both grand beachfront celebrations and intimate mountain weddings.
